YB: You say in one of your books that network marketing levels the playing field. What do you mean by that?

Kiyosaki: With network marketing, if you perform you get paid and if you don’t perform you don’t get paid. But it is really about performance. You know, they say “Money talks and the rest walk,” and that’s what I love about network marketing because it’s not about your college degree that matters. It’s not the family you come from, your race, your attractiveness, it’s really about performance. Money talks and the rest walk.

YB: How do you respond when people say network marketing is a pyramid scheme?

Robert Kiyosaki: I’m often asked if network marketing is a pyramid scheme. My reply is that corporations are really pyramid schemes. A corporation has only one person at the top, generally the CEO, and everyone else below. A true network marketing business is the exact opposite of a traditional business model. The network marketing business is designed to bring you to the top, not keep you at the bottom. A true network marketing business does not succeed unless it brings people to the top.

YB: Bottom line, do you think network marketing is a perfect “B” business?

Kiyosaki: My rich dad used to say if getting rich were easy, everybody would be rich. That’s why when the people ask what the No.1 thing that allowed me to become rich is, I say, “I didn’t want anybody to tell me what to do.” I wanted my freedom so badly. I didn’t want job security. I wanted financial freedom. If you like somebody telling you how much you can make, and when you should arrive and leave work, then network marketing business is not for you. It really isn’t. I think that’s what people are fighting for right now, the freedom from these choices: to live and think and live our lives the way we want to live them. And that’s what network marketing offers many people.
